Mike Thorpe

With over 16 years of experience providing workplace safety training to numerous premier contractors and organizations throughout California and Nevada, Mike formed his own Consultation and Training Service business, Sierra Safety Training Inc., after recognizing the need for customized, quality instruction and services by taking into consideration the repeated requests from his many satisfied clients.

A few years after the formation of Sierra Safety Training, Mike’s long-time friend, colleague, and business associate, Kent Freeman, approached him about California Health and Rescue Training. With similar back grounds and methods of training, they felt a merge would be good for them and their customers. In October of 2020, Sierra Safety Training acquired California Health and Rescue Training.

Providing services and training from facility/site safety audits, program development and management, new hire orientations, to safety training classes including OSHA 10, OSHA 30, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Trench Safety, First Aid/CPR, Confined Space, Forklift and Mobile Equipment, Workplace Violence, Heat Stress, Silica, LOTO, Ladder safety, and many more. Mike’s goal is to provide the best training possible using a common-sense approach and expert delivery that makes learning fun.

Mike has worked as a Safety Manager for a major California construction company, as a Product Manager/Safety Specialist for a large construction supplier. By working closely with clients in the recognition and mediation of workplace hazards while keeping safety, productivity, and profitability in mind, he became the main “go-to” source for training and consultation services in the Northern CA Region.

Giving back to the community has always been a priority. Mike has spent over 22 years with the Civil Air Patrol, USAF Auxiliary, taking on roles from Deputy Commander for Cadets, Squadron Commander, and Cadet Programs Officer for Northern California. Mike also spent 14 years as a firefighter/EMT with Diamond Springs El Dorado Fire Protection District responding to emergencies in El Dorado and surrounding counties.
